The Cousins: Bouddha / Kana Kapila (1961)

well, this surely is none of my favourite records, but in a way it is so trashy that it is incredibly funny again. the cousins were a belgian rock n twist / surf / instrumental group who released a couple of records in the early sixties.
‘bouddha’ is the better track on this 45, its a cool surf style instrumental with interesting percussion and a sharp lead guitar. the b-side, ‘kana kapila’, however is a bit annoying due to the persistent nonsense vocals sounding either like played backwards or recorded under the influence of certain substances. i dont think that this is a real language at all, as the cousins did that on several other records too (‘kili watch’ for instance) and it does sound more like funny yadda yadda.
i bought the record without cover sleeve, so the picture above is taken from the internet.

Sandy Nelson: Teen Beat / Big Jump (1959)

guess what the mailman brought me today – a new 45! and not any 45, but a very special one. this is not only one of the coolest records i own, but also the oldest (by now, lets see what is still to come), pressed in 1959, with original label paper sleeve (which youll see in the un-edited scan inside the download file). what a jewel!!! im still terribly excited about this, so heres the rip that i instantly made of it.
sandy nelson will be known to most of you who are familiar with the late 50s and early 60s, but to those who dont know him yet: he was one of the most amazing drummers of that time, often to be heard on other artists recordings as a session drummer, but he also released some simly fantastic solo records, and this is one of those. it isnt only one of those, it is his very first record at all (though this is a british pressing and not american, so it doesnt really count as a first issue, but nevertheless it was issued the very same year). teen beat is one of his most famous pieces, …

George Harrison: Wonderwall Music (Soundtrack – German Pressing) (1968)

as today is the 25th february once again, heres something in honour of george harrison, who would have turned 67 today. we all know he sadly passed away on the 29th november 2001, aged just 58 – but for now lets remember one of the most charismatic and coolest beatles and indulge in this interesting and somewhat obscure solo effort. in fact this lp is not obscure at all, as it already has been rereleased on cd and can be found lots of times on music blogs around the web, but it is rather unknown outside the circle of die-hard beatles fans. wonderwall music was the soundtrack to a film called wonderwall, and it also was the first solo record of a beatle during the lifetime of the band. i wont say too much about the album now, as theres plenty of info on this record on the web (just try google if you want to know more), and i dont want just to copy what others already said.
the reason i posted this lp anyway are, again, the high resolution cover scans, AND – and this is why i specially noted in the headline that it …
